The Mass College of Art hosts
Goddesses:The Mary McFadden Exhibit

Leave it to the directors at the Mass College of Art and Design to host an exhibit for legendary designer Mary McFadden. The exhibit, entitled Goddesses will be on display at the Sandra and David Bakalar Gallery from September 22nd through December 5th. The opening reception was held on October 1st during Boston Fashion Week where Mary McFadden was on hand to give visitors a walkthrough and to sign copies of her book, "High Priestess of Fashion".

For those of us that are lovers of couture, this is a jewel of an exhibit. I consider myself a big fan of Mary McFadden's works which were inspired by ancient cultures and civilizations. There were more than thirty garments on display, each inspired by eras which includes 15th century Florence, 11th century China, the Classical Period of Greece, Feudal Japan and ancient Egypt to name a few. In most cases, the garments were made using classical techniques along with a few techniques that Mary McFadden herself developed.

shown at the exhibit were stand alone pieces, they also happen to reflect the various themes of the garments on display.

The Goddesses exhibit is free and open to the public. I encourage everyone to see it that are enthusiasts of art and fashion. If you missed your chance to meet Mary McFadden in person than wait till November as the Mass College of Art will host a gala in her honor. That's one party you won't want to miss.
