Fashion Boston presents Christian Dior
Cruise Collection 2009

by Ian L.

We love fashion in Boston and Alexandra Hall, the editor-in-chief of The Globe's exclusive fashion magazine Fashion Boston, knows this all too well. It was no surprise then that when she put together an elegant fashion luncheon at the Copley Place Center Court Atrium, no less than 50 of the city's most avid fashionistas (of which I am one of course) would respond.

Of course it's hard to say no to an informal fashion show, especially when the fashions are from Christian Dior's latest Cruise Collection. Appropriately enough, now is just about the right time for the jet set to go on holidays and you know that they'll be shopping at Dior for something to wear.

Guests at the luncheon were served a wonderful three course meal by Citrio as the models strolled by the tables on the atruim. There was a good crowd of on-lookers, taking the time out of their busy holiday shopping schedules to see the amazing dresses and accessories.

The Center Court Atrium at Copley Place is out in the open and is the very heart of the shopping center. It's safe to say that when you take part in a Fashion Boston event, you quite literary become the center of attention.

The guests at the event included Jay Calderin of The  School of Fashion Design, Donna Rice of the Boston Globe, Lisa Pierpoint of Boldfacers.com, Conrado Bondoc of Superlatives.com, and Betty Riaz, owner of Stil boutique.

As a surprise, guest filled out cards for a special drawing. The winning prize was a chic black Dior handbag. The young lady who won the bag was more than thrilled to take the status symbol home. I won't even suggest a retail price, this is a genuine Doir handbag after all.

Alexandra Hall tells me that, because of the positive response, they'll be more fashion luncheons in the future. I'll be eagerly awaiting my invitation and I hope that many others will sign up and join in on the fun as well.
