Fashionably Late at The Liberty Hotel presents:
Cynthia Rowley and The Beets

by Ian L.

Bostonians got a taste of New York fashion and music at The Liberty Hotel thanks to designer Cynthia Rowley and The Moxie Agency. Cynthia Rowley chose the hotel's Fashionably Late venue of late night informal fashion shows to celebrate the grand opening of her first boutique in Boston, in a much coveted spot on Newbury Street.

As other designers are retrenching during this recession and others still are closing shop (such as Veronique Branquinho), Cynthia Rowley has plans for mild expansion.

Going against the grain of downsizing, plans are in the works for new stores and new licensing deals that we'll see as the year progresses.

Without a doubt, Cynthia Rowley has always marched to the beat of her own drum as shown by her knack of designing whimsical, feminine, and artistic clothing for women. Models at the Liberty Hotel show wore selections from her Fall 2009 collection along with the latest accessories.
Designer Cynthia Rowley introduces Boston to one of her favorite indie bands, The Beets at her informal fashion show at The Liberty Hotel.
As for the beat that Ms. Rowley is marching to these days, it's none other than New York's young indie band, The Beets. The band's sound can be described as 60's rock and roll but without the chirpy pop elements.

Cynthia loves the band to the point where they are featured in a fashion music short film for the designer's Fall 2009 collection. You can see the film at the home page of the designer's website. The band gave a live performance at the hotel before and after the fashion show, much to the delight of the crowd.
