Mercedes Benz Fashion Week New York:
J.Mendel Fall 2010 Collection

It would be almost shocking not to see fur on the runways of J.Mendel since this Fall of 2010 is shaping up to be a big season for fur and the house of J.Mendel was once the furrier to Russian nobility. Of course, that's not to be the case as there were numerous coats, jackets and capes all sporting that famous fur in whole or in trims.

As lovely as the furs were, my eyes were on the dresses and evening gowns. There have been many actresses wearing J.Mendel to the red carpets in recent years and it looks like that trend won't stop anytime soon. I loved about four or five gowns in deeps shades of red, blue and green.

If by some chance the color palette of deep reds, blues and greens on the dresses reminded you of a series of cave photographs by Ryan McGinley entitled "Moonmilk" then you would be absolutely correct. That's were the inspiration came from. You would also have to be quite the fan of Ryan McGinley.

J.Mendel dresses are destined for a trip down a movie premiere red carpet. It's not a question of if, but when.
