Mercedes Benz Fashion Week New York:
BCBGMaxAzria Fall 2010 Collection
For the Fall of 2010, BCBG Maz Azria showed a collection that seemed more toned down than the previous fall season. The colors were more muted and blended to the point of being somber.
Last season, we saw brighter colors, though not as bright as Spring colors, the whites were sharp and we saw a greater variety of jewel tones. This season, there were no bright colors to be found, instead we see a mixture of cool and warm greys, faded blues and browns, and highlights of faded yellows.
The silhouettes were very relaxed. The drapes were loose and hems were cut on the bias. There were lots of layered pieces and the asymmetrical look was dominant throughout the collection.
Various prints with geometric patterns were used on both dresses and blouses.
For the cocktail dresses, silver sequins were used to create texture and shine, but overall, the shine was subdued by layers of silky fabrics.
It seems that the current economic climate is not giving us much reason to celebrate, but at least we can still be fashionable.
